Claus Møller was a visionary. He looked well into the twenty-first century and developed management, service, productivity, and leadership concepts that continue to be taught and used by the hundreds of consultants and trainers who have worked with him around the globe and the thousands of clients they have helped.

The A Complaint Is a Gift philosophy is such an example. Initially introduced by Claus as part of TMI’s service concept, it then expanded into a stand-alone idea. The idea exploded around the globe with the publication of A Complaint Is a Gift in 1996 by Janelle Barlow and Claus Møller. A second edition was published in 2008 because of the high demand for the power of the idea.

Claus also presented the concepts of putting people first, personal quality, employeeship, and the human side of quality. He contributed in major ways to thought development in the fields of emotional intelligence, quality management, service quality, and productivity. He originated and developed the Time Manager planning tool and productivity principles far ahead of their time. He always worked closely with clients and his international consulting and training partners to keep pushing the envelope for all his revolutionary ideas.

A Danish national, Claus graduated from Copenhagen Business School with a master’s degree in marketing and went on to found one of the world’s most successful human resource training consultancies, TMI, in 1975. After selling the company in 2003, he founded Claus Møller Consulting, which continues to provide consultancy, seminars, online courses, and tools.

Claus was a brilliant and inspiring speaker and the author of several best-selling management books. His books have been translated into more than twenty-five languages and have sold more than three million copies.

Claus passed away in 2018, but his concepts live on, as demonstrated by the book you are now reading.
