The RDS service allows for the creation of automated backups that are taken once daily during a predefined or user-defined backup window. Automated backups can be retained backups for up to 35 days, allowing us to comply with most typical enterprise policy requirements out of the box. On top of automated backups, we can always take manual snapshots if longer retention is required for a certain snapshot, that is, a monthly backup or an end-of-year backup is required.
