Each change to the state of a task being performed is recorded as an event within the workflow execution history. The events record different aspects of the state changes of each task, which include the successful completion of the task or an error or timeout within the task execution scenario. The workflow execution history is a stateful and authoritative recording of the progress of the workflow execution.

When processing our ten-step order, each step, once complete, will register an event that will record whether the order has been received and processed, the user notified, and so on. The workflow can then also be used as a record of action in the order-fulfillment environment.
