OpsWorks for Puppet Enterprise lets us install and run Puppet Enterprise servers in our AWS account. Like with Chef, the installation is completed in minutes and the system is fully usable and configurable from that point on. When running OpsWorks for Puppet Enterprise, we will need to install puppet-agent on the servers and instances that we want to manage. Puppet uses a pull-based approach where the instances that are running puppet-agent register to the server and continuously poll the Puppet master server for any changes that need to be applied. These changes are stored in Puppet modules that we can write and store on the Puppet master. This is a really good approach when we need to make sure that a configuration is maintained because of compliance as the system has been designed so that the instances and servers initiate the checks and essentially manage themselves.
