Ignite is an off-heap memory framework, but we can configure it to enable on-heap caching by setting the setOnheapCacheEnabled flag in CacheConfiguration. On-heap caching is effective for scenarios where you need to read a lot of hot data.

Ignite supports the eviction of entries from on-heap memory as well. The following sections detail the on-heap eviction algorithms.
