WHITNEY JOHNSON’s research and work in disruptive innovation shapes how individuals and corporations manage change. After publishing her book Disrupt Yourself: Putting the Power of Disruptive Innovation to Work (2015), Johnson was recognized as one of the world’s fifty most influential management thinkers by Thinkers50 in 2015 and again in 2017. Through speaking, writing, coaching, and consulting, she synthesizes the key levers of change and shares how to use them effectively.

In addition to Build an A-Team and Disrupt Yourself, she is the author of Dare, Dream, Do (2012). She speaks about innovation initiatives and has delivered keynote speeches to audiences across the globe about disruption, innovation, teamwork, and organizational change. Johnson is also a frequent contributor to Harvard Business Review, a LinkedIn Influencer, and host of the Disrupt Yourself podcast. She is a member of the original cohort of Marshall Goldsmith’s 100 Coaches.

She is cofounder with Clayton Christensen of the Disruptive Innovation Fund, where they invested in and led the $8 million seed round for Korea’s Coupang, currently valued at more than $5 billion. Johnson was involved in fund formation, capital raising, and the development of the fund’s strategy. During her tenure, the CAGR of the fund was 11.98 percent versus 1.22 percent for the S&P 500.

Previously, Johnson was an Institutional Investor–ranked equity research analyst for eight consecutive years and was rated by Starmine as a superior stock picker. As an equity analyst, Johnson’s stocks under coverage included América Móvil (NYSE: AMX), Televisa (NYSE: TV), and Telmex (NYSE: TMX), which accounted for roughly 40 percent of Mexico’s stock market capitalization exchange.

Johnson is shaping how organizations embrace and manage disruption by leading individuals and teams up the S curve of change. She focuses on harnessing the core competencies required to build a team that can leverage opportunities and unite when faced with adversity.
