n Locator Map (for more detail see Area Map)

The tea-coloured Water of Leith rises in the Pentland Hills and flows for 24 miles (40 km) through Edinburgh to meet the Firth of Forth at Leith. On the way it passes through attractive urban villages, parks and woodland. Old weirs and former watermills hint at its history as a source of power for local industries. The Water of Leith Walkway, following the river for around half its length, forms part of the coast-to-coast John Muir Trail.
