Describing Details of Pathways

The first goal of the project will be to further flesh out the detailed pathways for all the alternate and exception pathways in the use-cases. The use-cases referred to here are only those that will be implemented in the first increment. Remember from the previous chapter that pathway detail was already completed for each use-cases happy path (for all the increments). In that chapter, as an example we described in detail the happy path (Customer calls and orders a guitar and supplies, and pays with a credit card) for the use-case Process Orders.

Remember that the detailed pathway shows the tasks necessary to satisfy that course of the use-case. Now all the pathways for all the use-cases in Increment 1 need to be described in detail:

• Process Orders

• Maintain Orders

• Maintain Relationships (customer pathways only)

• Architecture Infrastructure

We use the examples produced in Chapter 4 and expanded in Appendix D to describe details of the alternate and exception pathways.
