IN THIS CHAPTER

At this point in the project we need to create a concrete visualization, called a user interface prototype, of some of what we have learned so far. This visualization should focus on areas of the project that need further validation. It can also be an excellent way to discover more about the application requirements, which might involve not only new functionality but also usability needs.

A prototype's goal is not only to mock up the visual interface but also to visually exercise many of the pathways through the use-cases. In the case of Remulak Productions, the prototype focuses on the happy path through the Process Orders use-case. It also sets the stage for establishing some future standards for the project team, particularly as those standards relate to the user interface.
