About the Author

Clara Shih created Faceconnector in 2007 (originally Faceforce), which integrates Facebook and Salesforce.com and was the first business application on Facebook. Clara is CEO and founder of Hearsay Labs—a provider of social CRM software that helps companies manage customer relationships and grow using Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites.

Previously, Clara was a marketing and alliances executive at salesforce.com, where she was responsible for the AppExchange and led the company’s social media partnerships with Facebook and LinkedIn. She has also worked at Google and Microsoft in corporate strategy and software development. Clara holds B. S. and M. S. degrees in economics and computer science from Stanford and has a Master’s degree in Internet studies from Oxford, where she studied as a United States Marshall Scholar. Clara has been quoted in The New York Times, VentureBeat, The Economist, CRM Magazine, and other global publications. She was named to Fast Company’s 2010 list of the Most Influential Women in Technology. Clara is a frequent keynote speaker at social media conferences around the world, including Web 2.0 Expo, Sales 2.0 Conference, Enterprise 2.0, Netgain, Social Ad Summit, AlwaysOn Innovation Summit, and the Social Networking Conference.

Clara’s first book, Using New Media (International Academy of Education, 2005), was commissioned by UNESCO to help teachers, parents, and school administrators in developing countries use digital media to adopt best practices and distribute high-quality content and curriculum.
