Picture Styles

Picture styles apply certain characteristics to your video, such as changes in contrast or saturation. Just keep in mind that once these settings are applied, you can’t them change after the video has been recorded.

It is for this reason that I recommend you change the picture style to Neutral if you plan to work on your video with an editing application, as it will give you the most flexibility (Figure 9.7). If you plan to upload your videos straight to the Internet to share with others, you can choose any of the other picture styles.

Shooting Video Snapshots

One of the 6D’s new features is the ability to easily create movie clips of 2, 4, or 8 seconds. You can then combine these clips into a video snapshot album, which can be saved as a single movie file. In order to create a more dynamic movie, you can change the angle or scene for each video capture. Compiling these short videos together offers a much more engaging experience for viewers.

To enable the Video Snapshots feature, head to the second Video menu tab and select Video snapshot (A). Change the setting from Disable to Enable (B), and you are good to go. To learn more about using video snapshots, visit page 225 of your user’s manual.
