Using the Camera’s Mode Settings

The 6D has a variety of shooting modes that are accessible via the Mode dial on the top of your camera. Each mode is unique, giving you as much or as little control over your ISO, shutter speed, and aperture as you like. While you may feel more comfortable using the mode you are most familiar with, you might be surprised at what you are capable of capturing if you are willing to experiment with the other settings.

We will start with the most basic modes, which give you the least control, and work our way to the more advanced options. Every mode has its pros and cons, and by the end of this chapter, you will have a better understanding of your camera’s features and of the principles of photography.
