Editing Cell Contents

You’re not stuck with the first data you enter into a cell. In fact, you can change the value completely, delete it, or update it to reflect a supplier’s new business name or a customer’s new address. You also are not stuck with only one way to edit the data; you can edit the data either in the Formula Bar or directly in the cell.

Edit Cell Contents in the Formula Bar

  1. Click the cell you want to edit.

  2. Select the text you want to edit in the Formula Bar.

  3. Type the new text and press Enter.

In previous versions of Excel, you needed to select a check box to enable editing directly in a cell. You don’t have to check a box in Excel 2007—you can just double-click and edit to your heart’s content.
