If you add a resource by mistake or find duplicates of the same resource, you can delete a resource.
If you’re working with enterprise features using Microsoft Project Professional 2010 and Project Server, you cannot delete an enterprise resource from your project. Enterprise resources can be deleted only by the project administrator by using Project Web App.
Troubleshooting: You can’t enter costs for your cost resource
When you identify a resource as a cost resource, you might be surprised that the resource cost fields—Std. Rate, Ovt. Rate, and Cost/Use—suddenly become unavailable to you, both in the Resource Sheet as well as on the Costs tab of the Resource Information dialog box.
However, because cost resources are intended to be assigned to different tasks in which the cost amounts are likely to be different from assignment to assignment, the cost information is actually entered in the Assignment Information dialog box available from the Task Usage or Resource Usage view.
First, assign the cost resource to a task. Then open the Task Usage or Resource Usage view. Double-click the assignment of the cost resource on the task to open the Assignment Information dialog box. On the General tab, in the Cost box, enter the cost for this cost resource as it pertains to the selected task assignment. You can also enter the cost in the Assign Resources dialog box or in the Cost field added to the Task Usage or Resource Usage view.
For more information about working with cost resources, see Assigning Cost Resources to Tasks and Entering Costs for Cost Resource Assignments.
To completely delete a resource:
Display the Resource Sheet.
Right-click anywhere in the row of the resource you want to delete.
In the drop-down menu that appears, click Delete Resource.
The resource row, along with any associated resource or assignment information, is removed from your project.
You can also delete a resource by clicking the row header for the resource to select the entire row and then pressing Delete.
