This chapter explains the engineering functions, which are also called technical functions. In the standard Microsoft Excel installation for versions of Excel prior to and including Microsoft Office Excel 2003, these functions led a very secluded existence. Only after the Analysis Functions add-in was enabled were they available in the Function Wizard, in the Technical category, and could be used in formulas (see Chapter 2).

In Excel 2010, the analysis functions are located on the Formulas tab in the Function Library group. If you click the More Functions button, five more function categories are displayed. The second category is Engineering, which lists all of the engineering functions in alphabetical order.
