1. Vancouver Aquarium

Canada’s largest aquarium introduces kids to everything from otters and penguins to tropical fish in re-created natural habitats. The on-site naturalists provide great insight into animal behavior. Special events for kids include sleepovers with sea lions.

2. H. R. MacMillan Space Centre

Children here (see H. R. MacMillan Space Centre) can touch a moon rock, watch star shows, morph into aliens, or climb aboard a spacecraft and let the motion simulator replicate the feeling of space travel.

3. OMNIMAX® Theatre

Watching films on the massive five-story screen situated inside the Science World building will make children feel like they are right in the middle of the action.

4. Science World

Children can learn science in a fun way through the interactive displays at this hands-on discovery center (see Science World). Science World also offers healthy fast-food dining, with a special children’s menu.

5. Stanley Park

The miniature railway at Stanley Park makes a fun 15-minute excursion. From March through October, the park also offers horse-drawn tours, which are relaxing and cover many of the popular spots. Kids can also play a round of golf at the pitch-and-putt course. Second Beach has a play area, a swimming pool and a beach.

6. Grouse Mountain

There’s more than skiing and snowboarding at Grouse. In summer, try hiking, zip-lining, paragliding, guided eco-walks, or riding the Skyride to the top. At the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, visitors can see peregrine falcons, owls, and grizzlies. Loggers throw axes and roll logs at the famous lumberjack shows.

7. Granville Island Water Park

Kids will love splashing in the cool spray, shooting water cannons, and zooming down water slides at this large water park. There are changing rooms and bathrooms in the False Creek Community Centre next door.

8. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Walk the swaying bridge, then climb Treetops Adventure’s boardwalks and platforms perched high in the forest at this park.

9. Playland and the Pacific National Exhibition

With rides for all ages, Playland is always a hit with children. Highlights include its famed wooden roller coaster and climbing wall. During the Pacific National Exhibition, held on the same site as Playland, many additional rides are available. The exhibition also features monster truck races and demolition derbies.

10. Maplewood Farm

Kids enjoy pony rides, sheep shearing demos, and mingling with the animals at this farm. There is a picnic area, a greenhouse, and an aviary, too.
