Chapter 14. Designing the Renewed Process

In This Chapter

In the Renew phase, an organization redesigns its business process to be able to meet the goals of the project, to accomplish the visionary expectations of the process stakeholders, and to test the design for viability. It does this by conducting research into trends and enablers of new process possibilities. It develops new concepts, models them, and then validates them in process tests. The organization re-examines the feasibility of changes and develops models to coordinate subsequent phases and a transformation strategy.

This phase has eight steps (as shown in Figure 14.1):

1.
Benchmark processes and trends.

2.
Gain enabler knowledge.

3.
Finalize evaluation criteria.

4.
Rethink the approach.

5.
Model the renewed process.

6.
Demonstrate/validate the renewed process.

7.
Update the business case for development.

8.
Develop a transformation strategy.
