Coaching approaches, models and tools

In this part of the book we will explore some of the most popular contemporary coaching approaches, models and tools. Many of these overlap one another and some of the key features and skills are very similar. The important thing for you as a leader or manager who wishes to build coaching into your day-to-day work is to understand the various approaches, models and tools. You can select those you wish to use during your coaching sessions. This is not an exhaustive list; it is, however, a list of the ones we feel to be most useful.

The approaches, models and tools shown here are all useful. We find that, with experience, people are able to draw on many of these. We also hear from managers that they create their own models and tools that then help them to structure and focus their sessions to suit their own style, situation and approach.
