I developed this recipe in honor of my lawyer, who loves coffee and is a consummate morning person. I’m a huge proponent of coffee—not only because of its caffeine content and ability to make you mentally alert, but because it’s also an incredibly healthful drink for many ailments and conditions.

THE COUNSELOR

INGREDIENTS

1 cup coffee

1 frozen banana, cut into chunks

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

14 cup old-fashioned oats

2 tbsp honey

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS

1 Pour the coffee into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight.

2 In a blender on high speed, blend the ice cubes, banana, almond milk, oats, honey, and vanilla until smooth.

3 Pour the mixture into a chilled glass and serve immediately.
