ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Richard W. Krevolin (“Prof. K.”) is a consultant, playwright, screenwriter, and professor who leads workshops around the world on all aspects of storytelling. A graduate of Yale University, Richard went on to earn a master’s degree in screenwriting at UCLA’s School of Cinema-Television, and a master’s degree in play-writing and fiction from USC.

For many years, he was an adjunct professor of screenwriting at USC School of Cinema/TV. Under his guidance, his students have sold film scripts and TV shows to Universal, Sony-Tri-Star, Warner Brothers, Paramount, DreamWorks, and numerous other studios and production companies. He has also been a professor at Ithaca, Univ. of Georgia, Emerson, UCLA, and Pepperdine.

He wrote, produced, and directed the full-length documentary film, Making Light in Terezin. He is the author of multiple books, including Screenwriting from the Soul (St. Martin’s Press), Pilot Your Life (Prentice-Hall), How to Adapt Anything Into a Screenplay (Wiley & Sons), and Screenwriting in the Land of Oz (Adams Media/Writer’s Digest Books).

Professor Krevolin works with agencies and companies on storytelling to develop a new brand identity and to improve the power and impact of all communications, whether internal or external, including in-person, TV, radio, the Internet, and print.

During the past two decades, Professor Krevolin has flown around the world to teach the art of communication and storytelling to executives, creatives, and brand managers at many different companies, including Vaseline, Google, Pepperidge Farms, J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy, Mullen, Panera Bread, Tata Interactive Software, Pond’s Skin Care, Sunsilk Shampoo, Lux Soap, Lifebuoy, and Nike.

He has also worked with various top-tier corporate in-house and outside counsels on strategic communication and trial themes for major litigation cases.

Krevolin is the author of several young adult novels and more than 20 stage plays, and he has several scripts in development in Hollywood, including SAFER with Tom DeSanto Productions (X-Men; Transformers). He is one of the writers of the documentary film, Fiddler on the Roof: 30 Years of Tradition.

Krevolin’s stage play Trotsky’s Garden, was a finalist for the Eugene O’Neill National Playwrights’ Conference. His one-man show Yahrzeit, a finalist in the HBO New Writer’s Project, was a huge hit at the Santa Monica Playhouse, running for five sold-out months. Under a new name, Boychik, it opened Off-Broadway at Theater Four in New York City. Krevolin also received a Valley Theatre League nomination for best director and best play for his one-man musical RebbeSoul-O. His Off-Broadway stage play, LANSKY was recently nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award and was a big hit at the National Yiddish Theater in Tel Aviv. His play King Levine opened at the Odyssey Theater in Los Angeles under the direction of Joseph Bologna and, after receiving rave reviews, it transferred to The Tiffany. It was also nominated for an Ovation Award as Best Adaptation. His plays have been performed with Renee Taylor, Joseph Bologna, Ed Asner, Allen Arbus, David Proval, Jean Smart, Mackenzie Phillips, and Richard Kline.

Krevolin has been a panelist and keynote speaker at a variety of international writers’ conferences, including the Maui Writers Conference, the Santa Fe Screenwriters Conference, the Hollywood Film Festival, the Surrey Writer’s Conference, the Kenyan Screenwriters Seminar in Nairobi, and the Hollywood Film School in Kiev, Ukraine.

His consulting work has affected hundreds of TV commercials produced all over the world, many of which have won awards, including a Golden Lion at Cannes and The People’s Choice Award in China. Krevolin continues to consult with marketing executives, CEOs, lawyers, writers, and brand executives privately. He also lectures and leads creative workshops worldwide.
