ABOUT THE AUTHORS

DOUGLAS A. BONEPARTH

Early in his career, Douglas A. Boneparth became one of the youngest CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals in the country. In 2016, he was named to the InvstmentNews Top “40 Under 40.” He serves as the CFP Board Ambassador for New York, educating the public about how financial planning with CFP® professionals can help people achieve their financial goals. There are only 50 certified financial planners honored with this distinction worldwide. He is the president and founder of Bone Fide Wealth, LLC, a Manhattan-based wealth management firm.

Douglas has helped his clients negotiate sales of businesses; establish legacies for future generations; purchase new homes; and pay off debt and achieve financial independence. While servicing the needs of his diverse book of business, he noticed a gaping hole in the industry: advice for Millennials, his peers. So while everyone else was chasing old money to invest, Douglas started finding young people to invest in.

To bring financial literacy and empowerment to Millennials, Douglas conducts seminars across New York City, including at the NYU School of Law, NYU Stern School of Business, and the New York City Bar Association. He is active in w!se, a New York City non-profit that teaches financial life skills to high school students.

Douglas is a leading media source on Millennial finance, appearing on CNBC’s On The Money and Nightly Business Report, ABC’s World News Tonight and Good Morning America, and Fox & Friends, and in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among many others.

Douglas received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and his Master of Business Administration from the NYU Stern School of Business, with concentrations in finance and management. He enjoys playing tennis and volleyball, keeping his menswear fresh and watching college football with Heather and Hazel, his wife and daughter.

HEATHER J. BONEPARTH

Raised as an only child (and grandchild), Heather Boneparth’s father always said she was reared like veal—sheltered in close captivity to reach maximum potential. Breaking out of her box, she attended the University of Florida, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in journalism. Through her studies, she traveled to Ecuador to report on indigenous life, wrote for local and national publications, and fell hard for writing.

As if journalism was not stressful enough for Heather, she abandoned her collegiate dreams and attended law school in New York City. Her legal thesis, assessing the media’s liability for outrageous newsgathering techniques, was published in the fall of 2009 and has since been cited in federal court opinions and legal resources. A self-proclaimed dark horse, she never participated in class but wrote a mean final exam. She graduated with honors.

With two degrees and six figures of debt, Heather lawyered. And lawyered. In early 2013, she left the grip of private firm practice to pursue a more sustainable life in the insurance industry. Her side hustle was strong, and she rekindled her passions in the free time she gained back.

That is, until she and her husband Douglas learned they were expecting a baby girl. What better time to write a book about personal finance? While out on maternity leave, she spent her sleepless nights with Hazel in one arm and her laptop in the other. Helping Douglas market and manage his growing brand is rewarding, but writing this book is her Great Thing in Life: helping others from her own learned lessons, while doing what she loves.
