As we have seen in the first chapter, the term binaries includes all executable artifacts that run the enterprise application. The project repository only contains source code and files and artifacts required by the infrastructure. The binaries are built by the Continuous Integration server.

A step in the pipeline is responsible for building these binaries and making them accessible in a reliable way.
