Deleting the highly available application

In every application life cycle, we sooner or later need to decommission resources. Deleting the load balancer will also stop the costs associated with the load balancer service, so if there is no requirement for a load balancer any more, you should delete it as soon as possible:

  1. To delete a load balancer, select the checkbox in front of the load balancer, and then choose Actions | Delete:

  1. Deleting the load balancer does not affect the running instances and the target group, as they are still available. When decommissioning, we will also need to delete the Target Group. Select the checkbox next to the Target Group, and then choose Actions | Delete:

After you have deleted the load balancer and target groups, delete the instances by following the delete procedure outlined in the Building an EC2 instance in AWS section in Chapter 5, Managing Servers on AWS with Elastic Compute Cloud.
