Weighted routing allows us to deliver the content from several AWS endpoints and determine how much traffic or weight we want to put on each entry in the DNS record. This record type allows us to design environments that handle different traffic with different backends:

• Solutions with asymmetrical multi-regional deployments that can be used as a primary/failover location for our production application
• Blue-green deployment migration by increasing the weight of the new deployment
• Testing our applications with canary and A/B environments
