MSF used to have multiple interfaces, such as a command-line interface, web interface, and others. All of the interfaces were sunset by the Rapid 7 development team in the latest versions (Community and Pro). In this chapter, we will explore the console and GUI (Armitage) interfaces. The console interface is the fastest because it presents attack commands and it has the required configuration parameters in an easy-to-understand interface.

To access this interface, enter msfconsole in a command prompt. The following screenshot shows the splash screen that appears when the application launches:
