How it works...

An alias is a placeholder for information that may change. For example, you may have a printer that has an IP address of 172.16.1.100. By creating an alias for this IP address, we can then create firewall and NAT rules that refer to the printer without having to change all the rules if the IP address of the printer changes. If the IP address does change, we just need to change the alias.
