Captive portals are typically used to redirect users of a network that provides outbound internet access to a web page that displays the company’s terms of service. For that reason, it is often used when companies provide WiFi access to their customers. In some cases, you may only want to display the terms of service and not require any user authentication. In other cases, you may want to require authentication; fortunately, pfSense supports several types of authentication.
