Using the traffic shaping wizard, we have defined a set of rules that prioritize Skype traffic and deprioritize BitTorrent traffic. As a result, even if we have multiple Skype connections, they should not suffer even if we are using BitTorrent or otherwise downloading files. As we shall see, however, the manner in which pfSense determines which traffic is Skype traffic and which traffic is BitTorrent traffic is not necessarily foolproof.
