How to do it...

  1. Navigate to System | Package Manager.
  2. Click on the Available Packages tab.
  3. Find frr on the list of available packages and click on the Install button for frr.
  4. Click on the Confirm button. Installation should take less than 2 minutes.
  5. Once the Package Installer indicates that installation is complete, navigate to Services | FRR BGP.
  6. Check the Enable checkbox to enable BGP routing:

  1. In the Local AS text field, enter the Autonomous System router number (a 32-bit unsigned integer).
  2. In the Router ID text field, enter a router ID, or keep it blank to use the default.
  3. In the Timers section, you may adjust a series of timers:
    • The Keep alive interval determines how long BGP will maintain routes from a peer without getting a response. If a BGP peer misses three keepalives, its route information is suppressed.
    • Hold time determines how long a peer should wait to hear a keep alive message before assuming the node is down.
    • Update delay is the maximum initial delay period that starts running when the first peer is detected.
    • Peer wait is the amount of time a peer is given for a peer to reset itself without danger of being blocked.
  1. The Redistribute drop-down menus allow you to select either No or Yes, and give you the ability to redistribute the following:
    • Connected networks
    • FRR static routes
    • Kernel routing table/pfSense static routes
    • OSPF routes
  2. You may also specify one or more Networks to Distribute, along with a corresponding Route Map, if available.
  3. When done, click on the Save button.
