A row definition in the financial reports defines the descriptive lines such as Sales, Income, Cost of Goods Sold, and various expenses, as shown in the following screenshot:

As shown in the preceding screenshot, in the row definition, you can create row codes and descriptions, define calculations and formulas, and suggest the link to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations in the outer-most column, on the right. This is similar to creating rows in Excel.
