A reporting tree definition helps you create an organizational structure and hierarchy for financial reporting. Each box in the organizational hierarchy is represented as a unit in a reporting tree definition. Each unit can be mapped to the individual departments in Finance and Operations and you can create a summary unit to roll up multiple reporting units. You can create an unlimited number of reporting trees and use them in the report definition.
There are two ways of creating a reporting tree:
- Create one directly in the Report Designer.
- Leverage a read-only organization hierarchy from Dynamics 356 for Finance and Operations:

The preceding screenshot shows a reporting tree, wherein you can create a hierarchical listing of companies and units so that you can use them for slicing and dicing your financial information.
