Best practices in using CRP

Every methodology needs best practices as guiding stars in the implementation journey. Following are select best practices that we recommend:

  • Always have a big picture agreed upon for the entire future-state solution.
  • Use multiple CRPs for understanding and documenting business scenarios.
  • Get early feedback on the business scenario understanding.
  • Jointly work on the number of pilots needed.
  • Build multiple solution options and validate them with stakeholders.
  • Progressively add scenarios through a series of CRP workshops to gain the stakeholders' acceptance.
  • Keep iterations short but still maintain the atomicity of each pilot.
  • While feedback is important in CRP, it is a must to have agreed-upon change control and governance procedures.
  • Maintain traceability of all artifacts.

One should add/modify the preceding recommendations based on unique business and project needs.

There could be several CRPs based on the nature of the initiative and the goals to attain. It could be a pure business transformation or a functional, technical, or project-driven need, but you must tailor-fit the standards and processes accordingly.

In some scenarios, the agile methodology is also leveraged. Let's now take a deep dive into it.
