LCS

Microsoft Dynamics LCS provides a cloud-based collaborative workspace that customers and partners can use to manage implementations, upgrade, support, and many others by simplifying and standardizing the Microsoft D365FO implementations.

LCS helps in planning and executing Microsoft D365FO One Version projects in a repeatable and consistent way across implementations. It is an important tool, made as an Azure-hosted portal, and contains a set of services that allow us to perform various Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) activities easily. LCS acts as a common portal that provides shared resources for implementation partners and customers to collaborate together.

When a customer buys a subscription for Microsoft D365FO's One Version, what happens? What activities are supposed to be done, which resources can be leveraged, when would environments become available to them, how could the environments be managed, and would they get any tooling to support their implementation? There are going to be so many questions on how to keep the project on target and keep moving forward with the help of tools, which is where LCS plays a vital role.

LCS is one of our recommended tools for all Microsoft D365FO implementations and it helps in improving the predictability and quality of implementations, thereby enabling business value faster. The goal of Microsoft is to bring in LCS is to deliver the right information at the right time and to the right people. This helps in ensuring repeatable and predictable success with each rollout of an implementation, update, or upgrade.

LCS is available to customers, partners, as well as prospects. While customers and partners get access to learning, implementation, and other purposes, prospects can get access for trial purposes. The following table suggests various ways of getting LCS access:

For an existing customer of the older version of Dynamics AX For partners of Microsoft D365FO For customers of Microsoft D365FO
Sign in to LCS using the CustomerSource credentials Sign in to LCS using PartnerSource credentials Sign in to LCS using Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) credentials

Now, let's have a look at various common tooling options that are available in LCS that are project-specific.
