This appendix aims to help you quickly find the FileMaker keyboard command shortcuts you need. For that reason, they are organized by menu and by function—reflecting the two most common ways people remember commands and do their work. Unless otherwise noted, the commands for Mac OS X and pre-OS X are the same. Commands new or changed in FileMaker 6 are marked with an asterisk (*).
Shortcuts by Menu: Sometimes you really have to dig around in a menu to find all the available commands. The Shortcuts by menu tables list every keyboard shortcut hiding beneath FileMaker’s 12 menus. Many keyboard shortcuts, however, do not appear under any menu. That’s where the Shortcuts by function tables come to the rescue.
Shortcuts by Function: FileMaker’s menus arrangement sometimes does not really mirror the way you use the program. If you’re deep into creating a new layout, for example, it’s easier to see all the layout-related functions at a glance rather than listed under a bunch of menus. The same goes for text selection and formatting.
