The internet layer is the second layer, and it can be compared to the OSI's network. It defines a common interface that allows different networks to communicate effectively without any awareness of the underlying topology of each one of them. This layer is responsible for communications between the nodes in a Local Area Network (LAN) and the global interconnected networks that compose the internet.
