Prosciutto has the ideal thickness for hugging sweet onion and gets super crispy in the air fryer—a great midgame snack or fancy cheese board addition.
PREP TIME 10 mins
COOK TIME 6 mins
MAKES 12 rings
SERVING SIZE 6 rings
½ medium yellow or brown onion
12 slices of prosciutto (4oz [120g])
3 tbsp olive oil
sea salt (optional)
¼ tsp ground black pepper
1. Set the air fryer temp to 400°F (200°C). Spray the fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Slice the onion into 12 rings, about ½-inch (1.25cm) each. Wrap a prosciutto slice around each ring. Brush each prosciutto-wrapped onion with an equal amount of olive oil.
3. Working in batches, place 6 rings in the fryer basket and cook until the prosciutto becomes crispy, about 3 minutes, flipping halfway through.
4. Remove the rings from the fryer basket and allow to cool for 1 minute. Season with salt (if using) and pepper before serving.
Tip These onion rings are best eaten fresh—they’ll go soggy if stored in the fridge.
