6.1. Analytical Model—Squeeze Flow

To give the reader a first idea of the influence of force, viscosity, and molding velocity on the thickness of the residual layer, a simple analytical model can be used to describe the molding process. This model is known as the squeezing flow between two parallel disks. In literature, several approaches can be found to describe the squeezing flow of viscoelastic materials [1,23,24,37]. The fundamental relationships can be described with a Newtonian fluid between two discs.
