WINTER NIE

For the last two decades, Winter Nie has researched and consulted with many of the world’s leading multinational corporations in Asia, Europe, and the United States. She is a leading expert on contemporary Chinese enterprises, and is currently a professor at IMD, one of Europe’s leading international business schools, located in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she regularly teaches classes attended by senior Chinese executives.

Born and raised in China, she did her graduate studies in the United States, and received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Her extensive experience working with the executives of the world’s most successful multinationals as well as China’s most dynamic companies gives her unique insights into the cultural differences that are shaping the aspirations and the reality of the new global economy.

Her previous book, Made in China: Secrets of China’s Dynamic Entrepreneurs, demystified the success of China’s newly created privately owned enterprises, and explained how they changed China’s economy and produced today’s economic miracle.

WILLIAM DOWELL

During a career spanning more than thirty years, William Dowell has reported on news events in nearly every corner of the globe, including nearly eight years spent in Asia. After stints reporting for ABC News and NBC, he worked as a correspondent for TIME magazine for more than a decade, and ran TIME’s Hong Kong bureau shortly before the former colony’s return to China’s control. He is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, where he continues to write on international affairs.

Abraham Lu provided research for In the Shadow of the Dragon, while based in Lausanne, as a research fellow at IMD. He currently lives and works in China.
