Configuring health protection

Network health protection came with Windows Server 2012 R2. Network teaming is one of the options that can increase network redundancy, but there are more possible network issues that can affect your high availability. Network health protection allows virtual machines to be live migrated to other cluster nodes if the network connectivity is disconnected. As mentioned, live migration increases the availability of virtual machines by moving it automatically in case of failure, instead of performing manual migration. Every 60 seconds, a virtual machine checks whether the cluster resources needed for its functioning are available on the host where the virtual machine is located. If the virtual machine discovers that the cluster resources have been disconnected, the virtual machine will check that resources needed are available on other nodes and it'll initiate live migration. Each network adapter per virtual machine can control this feature. By default, the Protected network setting is enabled for all virtual network adapters.
