About the Author

Steven Peterson received his PhD in economics from Indiana University with concentrations in econometrics, macroeconomics, and finance. He has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University for the past 23 years and has worked as a consultant during that time to state government as well as the banking and financial services sectors. He is currently the director of research and senior risk officer for the investment team of the Virginia Retirement System. Dr. Peterson continues to pursue an active research program, publishing peer-reviewed papers in over a dozen academic journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Real Estate Research, and the Financial Analysts Journal. He is an active journal referee and has served on 20 graduate thesis committees. He lives with his wife and daughter in the tidewater region of Virginia.
