9.15. Writing Templates in Eclipse

Problem

You are writing a fair amount of Velocity and FreeMarker templates, and you are looking for a tool that can do some syntax highlighting, validation, and code completion.

Solution

If you are writing Velocity templates, use the Velocity UI for Eclipse. To get this plug-in, point your Eclipse Update Manager at http://veloedit.sourceforge.net/updates/.

If you are writing FreeMarker templates, use the FreeMarker Eclipse plug-in. To get this plug-in, point your Eclipse Update Manager at http://www.freemarker.org/eclipse/update.
