About the Authors

Mark W. Johnson cofounded the strategy and innovation management consultancy Innosight with Harvard Business School professor Clayton M. Christensen in 2000 (which was acquired by the Huron Consulting Group in 2017). The author of Reinvent Your Business Model: How to Seize the White Space for Transformative Growth (2018) and a coauthor of Dual Transformation: How to Reposition Today’s Business While Creating the Future (2017), Mark has written and cowritten numerous articles for a wide range of publications, including the McKinsey Award–winning “Reinventing Your Business Model” for Harvard Business Review. Prior to Innosight, Mark was a nuclear power–trained surface-warfare officer in the US Navy. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in civil engineering and engineering mechanics from Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree with distinction in aerospace engineering from the US Naval Academy. Mark and his wife Jane Clayson Johnson are the parents of five children and the grandparents of three.

Josh Suskewicz is a partner at Innosight, where he leads its Life Sciences and Medtech practice, working closely with leadership teams on the challenge of nurturing new growth platforms within established organizations. An accomplished teacher and lecturer, he has written on strategy and innovation for Harvard Business Review, Forbes, and hbr.org, and contributed to the business textbook From Strategy to Execution: Turning Accelerated Global Change into Opportunity. Josh holds an honors degree in English literature from Harvard College and lives with his wife, Rachel; daughter, Rose; and son, Salem in Brooklyn, New York.
