GC tuning is not as straightforward a topic to be covered in detail in this chapter, but the tools discussed in this chapter will get you started. Recent releases of Cassandra have worked around the limitations of JVM to give a better experience to the user; for example, most of the data structures that consume large enough memory are moved out of the heap. Cassandra 2.0 is a big stride forward in moving almost all the big memory structures off-heap. In fact, most of the installation will not see any or will see very little memory pressure in most common use cases. In the later chapters, we will cover more about troubleshooting.
