Summary

In this chapter, we went through the application life cycle process, starting with a review of Microsoft's Solution Framework and its basic recommendations and guidelines.

Through MSF, we explored the characteristics of the Team and Governance Models and how to configure the roles of our development people and their responsibilities and what the main assets of the application are.

We also looked at the main principles that apply to the design of a Risk Model, and the techniques used to assess the application's risks.

Then, we reviewed the many options that Visio offers in order to create deliverables that visually express different aspects of our application.

Finally, we covered other aspects of the architecture, testing, and deployment of the applications available in Visual Studio Enterprise Edition.

In the next chapter, we will keep on talking about projects, but this time, the focus will be on the quality of the code and how good practices, well-known recommendations, software patterns and the like will help you in a better software design in order to improve your solution's stability and maintenance.
