This process is the same as installing SharePoint Portal Server 2003 with SQL Server, with the obvious difference that SQL Server does not need to be installed on the server, and after the step is reached where the SQL database is referenced (step 14 in the previous section), simply provide the information that corresponds to the existing database server.
As mentioned previously, the SQL database will need to be configured to connect to SharePoint Portal Server 2003. The steps required here can vary based on the configuration of SQL Server 2000, but initial steps to take are as follows:
