This chapter presented quite a few new concepts across a range of technologies. Among the important points of the chapter were:

• ASP.NET is the new server-side Web development platform in .NET.

• Web Forms are designed and coded in a very similar manner to Windows Forms.

• XML is a flexible file format for storing structured data, and the System.XML namespace contains many classes for creating and using this format.

• Web Services allow application services to be exposed across a network using a standards-based protocol and format.
