Thanks to the GSA E-Government Travel Program Management Office (now the GSA Center for Travel Management), which had the vision for eTravel. That vision resulted in the consolidation of more than 250 different travel booking, authorization, and financial systems that had not previously incorporated the rules for government travel. It also improved government operations by saving millions of taxpayers’ dollars each year as intended by the E-Government Act of 2002. Now on to ETS2 for increased efficiency and savings!
In addition, the eTravel Initiative allowed agency travel managers to focus on managing their agency’s travel program, including use of the government travel charge card, more efficiently and effectively. Those travel managers were able to become their agency’s subject matter experts on government travel.
And a very special thanks to my friends and former eTravel Team colleagues who became members of WO-MEN Travel Professionals (www.wo-men-travelprofessionals.org). They were willing to share experiences and best practices as a result of eTravel—and continue to do so.
