Summary

This was quite a long chapter, and a lot of diverse topics were presented! The goal was to provide you with different subject areas that you can reference any time on an as-needed basis. Oracle Fusion Middleware Enterprise Manager Control provides end-to-end monitoring and administration, and navigating it can be overwhelming at first. We revisited some of the approaches to navigating the numerous configuration screens. Of the several areas surrounding administration and configuration, we covered:

  • Configuration of reference and service bindings of JCA adapters, and described the Global Retry Count property and why you should update it.
  • Manual and automatic recovery of BPEL component faults.
  • All Mediator Service Engine properties.
  • The UMS architecture along with details on how to configure an e-mail messaging driver and notifications.
  • Administering and configuring the Human Workflow Engine.
  • Mapping LDAP users and groups to application roles.
  • The Human Workflow User Config Data Migrator and how it helps in migrating human workflow data across environments.
  • Event Engine and Business Events configuration, standalone testing, and administration.
  • Mechanisms to start up and shut down the infrastructure using scripts.
  • The administration of DVMs and XREFs.
  • Specific configuration usually required by developers, such as read-only access and configuring custom XPath functions on the server.
