Summary

The MDS is a repository used by Oracle SOA Suite 12c to store the metadata of composites and their customizations that are deployed to the service infrastructure. The dehydration store, on the other hand, maintains instance-related information. Both are generally stored in the same physical database. As an Oracle SOA Suite 12c administrator, you will likely be required to manage both of these database-based repositories.

This chapter covered numerous administrative activities as they pertain to the dehydration store, namely:

  • Understanding configurations that affect the dehydration store
  • Understanding the underlying database objects that comprise the dehydration store
  • Explaining how to measure database growth
  • Describing the available purging strategies and what is purged
  • Setting up automatic purging through Fusion Middleware Control
  • Explaining parallel purging
  • Using SQL to monitor the status of purging
  • Using DBA commands to reclaim disk and segment space on the database
  • Explaining audit levels and the order of precedence for audit-level settings
  • Modifying audit levels
