About the Author

Ishwar Singh Tyagi completed his Ph.D. in 1976 from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee), and joined the Department of Physics there as a faculty in 1977 and became Professor in 1996. His assignments as Research Scientist as well as Visiting Scientist took him to the New University of Ulster (NUU), Coleraine, N. Ireland, and the Freie Universitat, Berlin. He has carried out extensive research work in the following fields: (i) Electronic and Magnetic Properties of Strongly Correlated Electronic Systems (Itinerant Ferromagnets, Mixed-Valence Systems, and Heavy Fermions); (ii) Theory of Measurement in Quantum Mechanics (EPR Problem, Quantum Zeno Paradox); and (iii) Electronic Properties of Semiconductor Surfaces and Interfaces. He has published more than a hundred research papers in leading International and National Journals and Conferences, and has guided a number of Ph.D. theses. He co-edited (with Prof A.N. Tripathi) a monograph titled Electron Correlations in Atoms and Solids.
